Player Profile
I started playing soccer when I was 5 years old as a pee-wee in Winslow Township. My first team was the Power Rangers! At age 8 I joined the U-9 travel team, the Winslow Wildcats, coached by my dad. My favorite part about travel was all the tournaments we went to. I played 2 years for my dad until my family moved to Washington Township in 2001. When I was a U-11 I went to the Washington Township Terminators. I made tons of new friends on this team, and most are still on it. At that time, the majority of the girls on it were all from Washington Township. I am still friends with some of the girls on the team and play high school soccer with and against them. The next year, a lot of new players joined from other towns. We improved and started going to farther away tournaments.

The next summer I made the U-13 Super Y-league team for the Banshees. After that first summer of Banshees training and games all up and down the east coast, I decided to join the regular season U-14 banshees. My brother had a lot to do with joining them because he started playing for them when he was 12. My first coach for the Banshees was Tommy Greenawalt. After one season with Tommy, Scott Middlemass was our coach for the next two. His knowledge of the game and his ability to coach was the reason he was my favorite. I also liked the fact he felt the need to sing “breathe in, breathe out” every time I looked like I didn’t know what I was doing, or just every time he saw me. Since the U-15 Y league season, our coach has been Ian Simmons. Our South Jersey Girls season that fall we played most of our matches with only 11 and sometimes less, yet we still won the conference. That spring we went to the Columbia tournament in Maryland. All the girls teams stayed in a hotel while the boys were in the hotel next to us (ours was nicer).

Now in our U-16 year, we played in JAGS and won the conference. We also played in the MSSL Fall Challenge tournament and were semi finalists. I think this year has been the best one so far for our team. We’ve improved so much on our passing and defense despite the lack of players. We all support each other and don’t get discouraged if things go bad. The girls have become my best friends and they send sweet balloons when you’re in the hospital. I look forward to continuing my soccer career with the Banshees, playing in college showcases, and hopefully playing in college. The past 4 years with the Banshees have been great. I’ve been through a few injuries over the past couple of years and each time you have to work hard to get back in playing shape and get your touch back, but my coaches and team mates have been there for me each and every time. Go BANSHEES!
