First Baron to earn U.S. cap
White comes on as a sub in U.S. win vs. Sweden
In the 81st minute of the United States’ friendly against Sweden, the fourth official lifted his substitution board to reveal a green number 23. That number belonged to Jeremiah White (Wake Forest / Lansdowne, PA), as he entered the match to replace the USA’s newly-crowned all-time leading goalscorer, Landon Donovan. White, who was called into the national team’s camp due to his impressive play with his Danish Superliga club AGF Aarhus, is the first former Baron make an appearance for the U.S. National Team. White played for the Barons in the 2003 season, scoring six goals in nine matches that year.
The United States earned a 2-0 win over Sweden in a match played at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. Eddie Robinson (Houston Dynamo) celebrated his first cap with his first international goal in the 15th minute. Donovan later converted a penalty kick in the 48th to become the all-time goalscoring leader in U.S. history.
